Recently, I have been a lot "spam" snail mail from several companies offering me a credit card. Every day, there is at least 1 letter from the same company with the same offer. Today, I got 2 from the same company.

Is there anyway to stop this?

I get the same thing, since I just purchased a house last September. Every offer has a snippet at the bottom to remove yourself from the pre-screened offers list. Don't know if it'll actually work, though.

A lot of them have an option at the bottom of the offer to be removed from their pre-screening thingamabob.

Send a few credit cards to the collection agency?
I paid off a credit card and all the sudden I started getting loads and loads of credit mail. I bet if you do something really bad to your credit, complanies will stop sending you mail.

You need to contact the three credit reporting agencies, and request that your personal information be provided ONLY to those companies you've authorized in writing to receive it.

Actually, if you have bad credit you'll still get lots of that junk in the mail, it will just be for higher-rate cards or secured cards.

funny this thread came up, cause this morning on the news I heard them talking about how there is very soon going to be a "do not spam" list, kind of like the do not call list.

There is a 1800 and/or url you can go to to remove your name from these mailing lists. I forgot what they are though, try google :)
