Credit Card help

Raduque

Lifer
I need something to help build my credit, and nobody will give me a typical credit card. I've been looking at a few of those "credit builder" card, such as this card, but I really don't know what I'm looking for/at.

Can anybody offer any advice, such as what to look for, or what to stay away from?

Account Set-Up Fee: $99.00 (one-time fee)
Program Participation Fee: $89.00 (one-time fee)
Annual Fee: $49.00
Account Maintenance Fee: $120.00* (annualized)

what the hell!
That's a lot of fee's. Don't they have those $500 Credit cards that half your money is yours and the rest is the banks. With that type of card you start to build your credit.

Also how old are you? Why can't you get a normal CC, do you have bad history?

don't touch that crap with a ten foot poll

see if you can get a "Secured" card , captial one has them as do others

you deposit $200 and get a CC with a $500 limit, something like that

Go over to creditboards.com credit forum and start reading. DO NOT apply for that junk card.

What strategy you should pursue depends on what's on your credit reports now. That's why you need to do some homework first.

Jnetty99: I'm 25 and had a CC once when I was 18.... I and my parents ran it up and I couldn't pay back (no job).

My credit score is a 536 and that CC from way back when is still on there. I have a couple of things from a utility bill I'm going to pay when I finally work up the guts to contact the collectors.

Don't pay it before you read creditboards, a paid collection can be just as bad as an unpaid one so you might as well try to get it deleted when you pay it.

thats sucks... but yeah get one of those secure credit cards. $500 like limit. Buy and pay stuff off and in about a year you should have a higher score.
