OP, what the fuck is wrong with you? This shit happens to me like 5 times a year. Are you new?

Srsly tho, this does happen to me a good amount. The credit card companies notice before I do usually though.

You are wholeheartedly ignorant if you do not understand the fact that MANY out there can not qualify for a credit card.

THAT is what you were hinting at? Wow.

What does that have to do with a) the safety of using either a credit or debit card and b) autopay?

Because the conversation became about Debit protection vs Credit Card.

Please keep up before you flame someone like a dick, you dick.

Boy, do I know. For many years I was refused a CC every time I applied for one. Now, I'm never refused. They wouldn't give me one because I didn't have a credit history. It's kind of a catch 22. I had nothing bad on my credit score, if you could call it that, but I had virtually no history, so... Finally, I got a card, have been a stellar customer. I always use autopay, never pay interest.

I applied and was instantly approved today for a Capital One Quicksilver card. It should arrive in 7-10 business days. Figure it for a good one for my autopays. Actually, I think I'll set up autopay on my 1.1% Chase Freedom because my autopays probably won't total as much as other charges, which I can make to the 1.5% Capital One card. I'll have to rummage through my statements before I decide.

From now on my autopay card will not be used for day to day purchases, it will be for autopay only. If someone gets ahold of that number I have to think it was one of the autopay folks who had their data hacked.

I agree. I worked the mortgage business a long time. So many people think their 800+ FICO is the key to the kingdom with their first job out of college with a $100k income and still living with the 'rents.

They have no tradeline history and are told they qualify for either or both a lesser home and/or a much higher rate or worse. Unless they can come up with the traditional 20% down and sometimes on their jumbo loan dreams with a partner in the same boat (100k salary yet lived with her 'rents too and didn't even have a car loan to show for it), 30% down.

I have seen motherfuckers go irate in a branch and try to throw out "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!?!?!" It's sad. Yeah, you just learned a great life lesson. I am not hating, but that brings the FICO score brag back to reality.

Not really, but your reply was I don't understand LIFE.
No. That was your reply, dear.

I know a lot about LIFE.
Apparently. Some 77,000 forum posts would certainly prove it to anyone who doesn't believe it. I feel truly grateful to have a chance to read the opinions of another internet expert on life.

So apparently you hate this place yet still post here.

I am betting you post more highly elsewhere.

I have had the luxury of technology prior to many and a job that I can post during the day and still do a kick ass job meeting expectations and going beyond them.

Yay, a post count hater. You are a dick bro. Please sit down and STFU.

Man, I must be living a charmed life. I've been using debit cards for more than 25 years and have never had a problem reversing an unwarranted charge. AND I've been using autopay for gas, electric, cable, phone and other monthly bills and have never been mistakenly billed.

This. Both me and the wife use or credit and debit cards across Europe and have never had a problem.

TBH I can't think of anyone close I know that has had a problem with CC/DC fraud. Then again everyone has chip and pin on all their cards here.

Again you probably use some backwater bank......I have never had a problem ever credit or debit that the bank did not immediately cover and add my money back to the account in 24 - 48 hrs....

yeah, one of the largest credit unions type of backwater.

Happens all the time, activate your new card and get on with your life.

Got the new card and have already changed all my autopays to it. My new CapitalOne Quicksilver 1.5% card should come in a week or so and I will use it for just about all of my other CC purchases. I will get $100 credit after I make $500 worth of purchases in the first 3 months. I got a similar offer for a Bank of America VISA card, same credit. I think I'll apply for it, use it for over $500 in the first 3 months, then use it exclusively for groceries for which it gives a 2% discount.
