This week my employer will finally actually employ me. For the past 5 months I've technically worked for my mom who worked for the employer. Because I was under the age required by their insurance (19) the manager worked out a deal in which he would pay my mom while I actually worked. So now that I'm nearing 19 I can finally have the job officially be my next week. So with this I want to get my finances straight. I opened a checking account under my name (had a joint account with my mom before). I went to the DMV yesterday to apply for a state ID which is required to open online savings account and Credit Cards. Looking online I couldn't find a student credit card for High School students, they're all for college students. What are my options then? Btw my income starting next week will be $367/week and I have $5000 in savings and I have no debt with about no more then $200 in expenses a month (food at Shaws about twice or once a day, MBTA pass, and a few random things)

Cliffs:

Need help finding a Student Credit Card for a HS senior.

If you have an account at a bank they should issue you a low limit card

Yes I live in the city (Boston) I don't need a car... The train takes me everywhere I need to go that's why I pay $79/month for an MBTA pass (I need take the train to Braintree so I need the C+ pass)

Hmm, I was looking at American express and Soveriegn (company I work for subcontracts my job to them) but it's hard getting a card with no history at all even if it's just a card to build up my credit history. I plan to pay off the card at the end of every month.

I had a credit card at the age of 14 thanks to my parents. Your parents should have gave you a credit card young so you could build up your credit. Thanks to my parents I now have a score of 767 at 22 years old.

IMO you should always get a drivers license as early as possible even if you don't plan to drive right away. Some insurance companies use # of years of driving experience (or being a licensed driver) to determine the premiums.

Heh I know that, it helps though to actually know how to drive :p. I wont learn until this summer and It will be a couple of months until I apply for my permit.

Hmmm I check this site out. My Economics teacher suggested it earlier today. Could I lie about going to college? Hmm maybe it's not such a good idea to start to lie about these things. I think I'll just go next week if not the week after at my local citibank. There's a branch in Quincy.
