credit card daily limit

Do credit card have daily limit? I was trying to pump gas and that is the error message that I got, I did get fuel at the same gas station in the morning. Could that have something to do with the daily limit message or do cc have daily spending limit on gas. P.S I only got gas today nothing else

credit card companies are always screwin up. i hate havein to call them and get chapped because they are such n00bs
 
Little known fact about debit/credit transactions at gas pumps:
They often reserve about 200-400 for every transaction.
Even if you bought $20 worth of gas they will freeze about 300 bucks just to be sure they'll be able to collect.
Answer: Maybe you were over your credit limit per say.

i have 2000 credit limit on this card and this actually the lowest that i have." My usually credit limit is $10000 but that is beyoung the point". Its a platinum card if that makes any difference. Going to call them soon and findout why i got that error message.

Out of all the gas stations I've ever used in the last 18 months in the US not a single one has pre-authorized for more than $1! And I know because I check my CC every morning...

To the first poster it's also possible their machine was screwed. I get that often an djust go to a different station.
 
When theeves steal a card, they use it at gas stations to see if it actually works, then they go on a buying spree.

well i used different cc and it worked.So wonder if it didn't like visa as the other card was american express
 
just talked to customer service and the guy said that transcation went thru but he dont' know for how much, guess iwill have to keep my eyes open to see ifi get charge anything for that. Btw he said they don't have daily limit.
 
I think it's due to security. Just in case your card was stolen the person wouldn't be able to make any more purchases after so many. I'm sure you can get it taken off with just a phone call to your CC company.
