Wow, I think this may be my first post in ATOT.

I was searching and reading through some older threads on credit cards, but didn't see my exact situation. Basically I'm a 22 year old with a BA that will start Law School in the fall. I've had a check card for years, no problem, and also had a pair of credit cards in the past, which I allowed to expire and didn't renew. One of the two cards was issued when I was under 18 however, so my parents cosigned. The other card was issued after I turned 18, and it was issued by a bank I had a checking account at (I have sinced closed that account), so I assume it would have have built a bit of credit. I have no other notable sources of credit - bills in college were either paid to landlord or cosigned with parents. I don't think an appartment lease builds credit. I own my car, but I paid cash.

Here are my present circumstances in a nutshell:

-In between school - can't apply as a student.

-Have a great part-time job, but only part time.

-Do some work on the side that ends up making decent money, but I don't have paystubs to show. (Think tutoring students, not online gambling).

-Have only lived at my present adress for a month, and will move in a month (staying at friend's).

-Have a checking account, parents names on it. Account has check card tied to it. I'm the only one who uses the account, but parents names are on it so back in college they could easily transfer $$$ (thanks Mom and Dad).

-Have no blemishes on my credit

So what do I do here? Is there anything in particular I should apply for? Should I use my present adress or my parents' (which is what I use on law-school apps since it's permanant)? Any and all advice is appreciated.

PS - the card's benefits are unimportant, I won't charge enough. I do want as high of a limit as possible and no annual fee. Amex isn't desired unless it's substantially easier to get.

I find it out that you "let the cards expire" It seems that with all the cards I have, when they reach the expiration date, they just automatically send me a new one that I have to call and activate. Just received a new Citibank Dividend last night, and I didn't do anything.

Sounds like you have decent credit, so I would apply for Chase Cash Rewards. No annual fee and they gave me a high limit. You get some cash back rewards as well, 5% on gas, groceries, drugstore and 1% on everything else. Put down whatever address you want the bill to come to, I change addresses when I move all the time and no problems.
