Credit card account stolen

Mom got a bill today from credit card company to find that someone has exchanged 300+ bucks into Japanese yen. Luckily the company paused the account until we called them today where they promptly closed it. First time ever happened to us, were normally pretty careful and still not sure how they go the info cause she hardly uses it.
