Creative Zen Micro Question

Software is installed, drivers installed and the usb cable is connected but when i go to open the drive it says its not connected. Tried using multible usb cables and restarting/unplugging and re-plugging it in and downloading the drivers directly from creative. Not sure what else to try and the creative support hasnt been much help.

Are you trying to sync the Micro or use it as an external USB drive???

If you are trying to use it as an external drive, you must "turn on" the drive on the Zen Micro FIRST by selecting "Extras>Removable Disk>and then select size." You must have the disk selected for Windows to see the drive. GP

I have the exact same problem. It works just fine on the computers at my college without having to load any drivers (using Win XP and Media Player 10 of course, and the 2.xx firmware). I've tried everything mentioned above, even a permissions fix that required editing the registry. I really don't want to uninstall windows again. I am 95% positive that it has to do with this new "PlaysForSure" technology. "PlaysIfYou'reLucky" is more like it.

So I had a similar problem as well. As it turned out the firmware that came on the Micro was not compatible with my wife's computer which is running Windows 2000. I attached it to mine running XP and it worked great. I used my computer to install one of the 1.xx firmware's which I read somewhere were compatible with Windows 2000. Tried it on wife's machine again and haven't had any trouble since.

2.xx firmwares are MTP compatible. MTP is a new media transfer protocol built into XP and WMP10. Regular 1.xx firmware makes player usable with W98, W2K and XP - with installed driver. MTP firmware means you need no driver but limits you to XP and WMP10. Just pick one that suits you.
