I want to buy the card for its EAX effects. But in the creative website, only the xtreme music edition has EAX 5.0, but the Xtreme audio edition does not mention EAX 5.0 effects at all? I have to buy the card today from buy.com with google checkout (last day to use it), Is it an error or really true? please help!

Both are base on xfi technology. Here are the specs of these cards straight from creative. Has anyone bought this card?

x-fi music: $99

x-fi xtreme audio: $69 (card i want to buy)

Yeah, it looks like the Xtreme Audio does not have EAX effects. Stick with the Xtreme Music.

The Xtreme Music tends to go on sale for ~$70 AR or you could get one off ebay.

I too find it hard to believe that so many people are willing to spend this much on a card when a lot of them have their sound seriously bottlenecked by their speakers or headphones.

Marketing and monopoly effects are mostly responsible for this. Combined with the growing trend for more expensive parts inside a computer (ooh, two graphics chips in one card! must buy!), and you end up with expensive source material and inexpensive peripherals.

The Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio is the ideal sound card for music and movies. For gaming, please consider the other Sound Blaster X-Fi products.

This quote is taken from Creatives website and can be found at the bottom of the page for the X-Fi Xtreme Audio

Either wait for a deal on the Xtreme Music, or buy an Audigy 2 ZS.
