"I wonder if Creative and other non-mobo card makers jump into the mainboard market."

I saw this comment on nvnews and it got me thinking, what it companies like Creative Labs and Guilemot/Hercules start to make motherboards? For Creative particulary it would be great opportunity to grow, as they make their own sound chips it wouldn't be to hard for them to make a mobo with good sound and graphic, as most of intergrated mobos today is just cheap, substandard crap. Hercules would probably make great oc mobos.

Any thoughts?

Creative has been talking about this for some time. Has never come to fuition yet.

As for Diamond Multimedia, they indeed were in the mobo business for a short while. They got in to the business by buying out the old Micronics company, which at one time was one of the top brands of motherboards out there.

While I am definitely not a fan of integrated components, I think it would be kinda slick to have a motherboard with an onboard Soundblaster Live and an onboard GeForce.

micronics is still a top motherboard company they only sell to big OEMs now. I had an athlon board from an ibm that was micronicx

Ohh god ... not another commentary about my nick. Let's see, this counts up to the 10 on IRC, 8 at skinz.org, and 3 on ICQ. And if swedish was not enough, I now know that in afrikaans it's a bad word too.

But since I'm Brazilian, I don't give it a **** 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛
