I have a pair of ca-4100 cyber acoustics brand speakers, that do fine on every type of card except creative ones. Ive tried a live 24 bit and an audigy 2 zs, and with both when the speakers are plugged into the back of the sub (rca type plugs) you get a loud SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH out of all speakers, but if none are plugged in you get the sub working just fine on its own. no other speakers have this problem, and ive tried plugged them in in different ways and to diff jacks

anyone know anything?

yes with on board, philips, cmedia, chaintech av710, they operate normally, i just havent been satisfied because of very slight noise, or crackling in games.

the live 24 bit worked fine in everything but made the ca-4100 speakers go shhh
so now i try an audigy 2 zs, which im keeping anyways, and i get the same thing.

no idea what it is :(

:( bummer.

Does the sound get louder with higher volume or is it constant?

constant, sound still comes out through the speakers, its just that theres noise 5x louder than the sound all the time, whether its muted or not

Bummer again. Only thing I can recommend is that you make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. All the speakers are plugged into the right ports, digital output is OFF, disable onboard sound, etc.

Unless you're actually using it, try disabling the line-in on the sound card.

Do you get static when you plug in some headphones or another set of speakers?

Sometimes a line-in will add static to the final output.

Did you try muting everything you're not using? (line-in, mic, etc.)

So... at this point we're pretty sure it's just the speakers then? I'd say just get a new set and be done with it.

yeah guess so. weird that only creative cards put out some wild signal that only CA speakers would pick up as loud noise :(
