According to our sources, the next generation sound chip from Creative will be known as Sound Blaster Zenith. It will be a complete new architecture from the current Audigy series and it will be based on PCI Express x1. The launch of Audigy 4 Pro today which is an enhanced Audigy 2 ZS chip is the transition to the Sound Blaster Zenith series scheduled for launch in March 2005.

Hahaha

Honestly, though, the biggest problem I have with Creative is that their drivers are terrible. They take up quite a bit of memory, and rarely have any redeeming features. They need to redesign their software bundle into one, cohesive package that doesn't take up hundreds of megabytes on my hard drive. Also, some real-time Dobly Digital encoding/decoding would be nice.

I'd still rather buy an Aureal card, though. Their sound technology was far more impressive.
