Hello, I was wondering, which one of these two sound cards can be considered better? I am mainly gaming and listening to music. Don't really care about movies. One obvious advantage of Sound Blaster is that it has EAX support. Xonar D1 also has EAX support, but only in some games. And there are two games I DO play that have EAX support but Xonar D1 doesn't work with them: Thief 3 and Medieval 2: Total War. I wish I had EAX, especially in Thief3.
I do own Xonar D1 at the moment, but it wouldn't be a financial or temporal hassle for me to switch to Sound Blaster Z if it's worth it. But is it? Does Sound Blaster Z have any other advantages other than EAX support?
For my Xonar D1 I am using UNi unofficial drivers 1.71, latest version. Everything works well. I have a 2.0 system, Edifier R2800 (Studio 8).
