I enjoy consulting ATOT on things. You guys generally have a lot of interesting ideas, as well as worthless input. But I'll take the pro's with the cons.

I am in the process of starting an adult soccer league. I do not own any land big enough for soccer fields, so obviously I am looking around for different fields to use. Most of the county parks are excellent choices, except one problem. They cater to youth leagues. In fact, it seems nearly impossible to get a field thats in good condition that will rent you the fields. On the surface, they will. They don't outright say no, but when you go to get approval, a lot of them aren't in good enough condition.

It is making this quite difficult for me. Some solutions I had where to look at some privately owned organizations that had large fields I could turn into soccer fields. First choice off the top of my head was churches. They generally could use the extra income, it could be a win/win situation for both of us. So I fired up google maps satellite view and started looking around. I've got a few prospects I plan to visit in the next few days.

I am curious though, if anyone has any creative suggestions on where to look, or how to find large fields.

Let's brainstorm!!!

The grassy areas between airport taxiways
Cemeteries for a good game of bumper soccer
Are you in an industrial town? Large plants are often surrounded by acres of leveled land.
Housing collapse zombie developments that were bladed but never built
Golf course fairways, no one ever uses them anyway
Frozen lakes for winter league

What about local schools? now-a-days, many schools have Soccer as a sport they offer... why no look into using their soccer fields? on the weekends, it shouldnt be an issue unless the school is playing a game.

Where do you live? In New Jersey and Philly, where I've played soccer, land is almost impossible to find. Whatever natural grass soccer fields you can find are ripped to shreds from over-use. The only way to go is to use artificial turf. I've played in indoor leagues with turf and outdoor leagues with turf. It's so much nicer when you don't have to worry about twisting your ankle on some pothole in the middle of the fields, or loosing your footing and twisting/tearing something.

I stopped playing in a league in Philly because they played on natural "grass" fields, but they were all just mud-holes. Fuck that.

I'm in Florida. And incase it wasn't obvious in the OP, this is a for profit organization. Aka, I need good quality fields.
