Creative: SBLive is only 4.1 in a compaq

I swapped out the live card I had in an old compaq to my new system. It had been running 4.1 just fine. But without the "creative mixer" which is part of the "audiohq" stuff that came preinstalled I can't enable 4.1 (even after installing creative drivers and selecting surround sound in windows). I tried to tell the support guy that it was a software issue, that after I deleted the periphery SB software on the old computer 4.1 capability was gone, and could they just send me a copy of the software... but no.

Anyway does someone know where I could get a piece of software to force through 4.1? I've tried the alternative kx drivers, but they haven't done the trick. Or should I just pick up a cheap 5.1 card? Thanks.

The full drivers, which include AudioHQ and the Creative Mixer are on Creative's website.

Here are direct links to them. If they do not work go to http://www.soundblaster.com and click on Suppport, and then Download Drivers.

Windows 2k/XP:http://files.americas.creative.com/manualdn/Drivers/Others/1926/LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe (27.3MB download!)

Windows 98/98SE: http://files.americas.creative.com/manualdn/Drivers/Others/247/sblw9xup.exe (6MB download)

Windows ME: http://files.americas.creative.com/manualdn/Drivers/Others/416/SBLWMEDrv.exe (5.20MB download)

Yeah - thanks, but those are the ones I downloaded and there's no audiohq in sight. If you do a more general search the file size is more around 20mb.

What OS are you using?

I can verify AudioHQ is included in the Windows 2k/XP driver pack. Cannot verify for the 9x/ME driver pack as I do not use those OSes...
