I bought one for my sister. Sadly this one does not have an FM tuner (read the small print). That surprised me cause I looked at the picture, which shows an FM tuner.:(

Overall it's still a great MP3 Player.:)

I though the Nomad's were the best ones out (Maximum PC gear of the year/PC magazine products of the year)... I heard the Nike MP3 was crap. You can't even add more memory to the Nike one can you?

I bought one of these for my son a few weeks ago. We did the firmware upgrade which worked perfectly and he is now happily using a smartmedia 128 megabyte card in it. He loves it.

You can add more memory to it, but not much, psa60 is 96 mb max, and psa 120 is 128mb. The firmware needs to be updated to recognize generic brands of MMC cards and have battery indicator on the remote. I believe somebody posted the link to newest firmware on the messages boards.

I agree its not the best mp3 player for the money.

I just ordered a Nomad II from Tigerdirect - they should have 11 left after my order. The Item number is C44-3020 or click this Link to Nomad II w/32mb on-board:D

The cust svc rep said this unit has 32mb on-board and comes with a smartmedia card. I'll let you know by the end of the week what the package contains!
Note: Unlike the IIc, the Nomad II comes with a remote and headphones.

I thought a Nomad II only came with a removeable 64 mb smart media card and no onboard memory?

also, tiger direct is broken right now.

Anyone have opinions for which one is better.. the Nomad II or IIc? If they both have the onboard 32 mb and both are upgradable with 128 mb smartmedia cards, the diff is only a matter of remote/headphones and the fact that the II has the FM tuner? I think the "c" in IIc stands for compact or something.. so does it a bit lighter?

I got a hot deal on a refurbished Nomad II for like $70 a few monthes ago, mine is a 0MB model the FM tuner (I added a 128MB SM card.) I would definitely get the FM tuner, 128MB is good for a solid state unit but you'll tire of the music quickly and the radio is nice to fall back on. 128MB is a must (the firmware won't recognize any more) and so is the docking station so you can easily dump music and charge the battery. The headphones it comes with and mini remote are really nice, it's also great for exercising (light and no skipping.)

How did you get out of stock? Surely they aren't open that late on a Saturday for you to call?

Great Deal tuan121! Awesome first post.
Hope I get mine. I missed out on the chance to get one for $50 when they first came out a year ago. Regret that everyday.

Hmm.. seems like my order went through for the Nomad II. The IIc looks to be slightly lighter.. I couldn't see any other advantages of it just by comparing stats on TigerDirect and on the Creative Labs webpage.

Raptor: I had called an hour or two earlier than my post because it wouldn't allow me to add it to my cart and he told me that they were OOS of the IIc.

I purchased the Nomad II (not the "C") from Computer4Sure just before Christmas. Was only $67.95 and it has the FM tuner and headphones.

How do you like your Nomad II Bob? I read a few reviews on epinions.com saying the volume control could be a bit louder.. just something I noted. I'm still young so my ears can take it.....

The only time I can see the volume being an issue is when ambient noise is high. Absent that there is plenty of volume, and BTW you really shouldn't listen to headphones loud. It's about the worst thing you can do for your hearing. I try to listen as low as tolerable (actually I have custom molded phones that block external noise so it's not hard.)

Yeah, I try not to blast the headphones.. don't want to bother those around me and I want my hearing to last for awhile, you know? I'm sure the volume level will be sufficient for whatever my needs are.. heh heh.

If the item was backordered, do they automatically cancel your order... or did you have the option of leaving your order in case they ever received a new shipment of the Nomads?
