I'm considering getting an MP3 player soon (yes, i'm slow), but I don't know which to get.
Obviously, for those who understand a good deal, the Ipod is not a good deal. I can get a Creative MP3 player for much less, and I've heard they're really good.

Now, my brother has a Zen Touch (a new one) and i liked it...then I heard how the Nomad had a much better navigation system...

So, which one would be better? I like the whole touch idea of the Zen (and understand that the ipod is a tad better at that) and the great battery life, but this nice navigation thingy sounds good too...plus i just heard the nomad is better

So, which one? oh, and the smaller/newer nomad is what i was talking about.

I got theZen touch for my birthday... it is AWESOME.

nice big screen, easy navigation...GREAT GREAT GREAT sound.

i used to have an ipod... but sold it within days as... i dunno, might just have been me... but i thought it was over rated for the price. I think the Creative Zen Touch sounds better at a much better price.

edit: When I looked at the Zen touch and the NOMAD and the ZEN TOUCH... I did not notice much difference in the set up or navigation. It just seemed like one was a scroll on the front and the other were on the side. Teh Zen touch had a bigger screen though. Good for these old eyes.

I have the zen touch 40gb and love it. I have only played with a few other creative MP3 players including the Zen Micro and the MUVO 512mb. Both are great players though I know nothing about the older nomads. I know they are a great deal per gb but don't have some of the newer features and are not supported anymore.

The touch was perfect for me because of the sound quality, size, price, and of course, battery life. I get ~22 hours on the average charge and over 26 if I just leave it on continuous playback. The touch interface is a tad too sensitive even on the lowest setting but you get used to it.

Unlike the ipod, this is not a pocket player. The size of the 40gb is slightly larger than the 20gb which is slightly larger than the ipod, so it does have some extra bulk. It also weights a few more ounces but this is all due to the battery that lasts over twice as long.

The Micro is freaking tiny, definitly a fair bit smaller than the ipod mini. It's interface is great and it has a removable battery. It had past issues with the headphone jack breaking after a few months but supposedly that is fixed with the newer hardware revisions. Creative is pretty quick with replacing your player if it does have this problem.

The software is ok that comes with it, but I usually just used WMP 10 to do all my managing and transferring. The creative players DO NOT show up as an external hardrive so don't expect driverless interface with your comp. Once the drivers are installed you can move files and music around fairly easily but not before.

Let me know if you have any other questions. the creative forums (forums.creative.com) are a great resource as well.
