Creative Megaworks 6.1???

I have noticed the price steadily dropping over the last month. Does this mean that the 650D with optical SPDIF input will be released in America soon or maybe clearing the way for 7.1(audigy ZS). How would this be a great benefit if this is the case. I understand the convienece of just 1 cable and i believe it would support 24bit/96khz but i don't listen to dvd audio, which I believe is the only real use for this. I guess what I'm getting at is I have an Audigy 2 plat and want to purchase these speakers, any cautions, is it worth th wait and extra $? Thanks

The real use of it is having 1 wire.... As for DVD audio, you cannot listen to it on digital speakers. You seem a little mixed up. As long as you have analog speakers hooked up to your Audigy 2, you can get 24bit DVD audio from both DVDAs and DVD movies. There are no real advantages to digital sound, just disadvantages. That's why there are so few speakers available which utilize digital input.

thanks, I gueess I was confused about digital audio, thanks for the info, much appreciated. So I guess your not giving me any good reasons not to buy the current model.(don't care about 1 cable)

Only reason you might want to wait is for the new Gigaworks.

Gigaworks S750 is 7.1 with improved sats (they now have tweeters, probably slightly modified MC100 sats), and the sub is now more powerful (upped to 210 watts).

Gigaworks S700 is 5.1. Exact same as the S750, but without two of the rear sats. In fact, you can later purchase the two sats to upgrade them into the S750.

MSRP are $399 and $499 I believe. There is also going to be an $150 option to get a separate decoder box for multiple inputs and such.

The pending release of these speakers sets could explain the drop in price for the Megaworks 650, as they will no longer be the top of the line multimedia set from Creative.

Great info, I wish I could wait but I'am a student and this will break me as it is, I think the current megaworks will do fin for me($$$$$). I guess another question I would have is any other comparable products <350$.
