This is a repost of sorts, but I believe this article has some info that I've never seen before (and I didn't find it linked in a search of the forums).

Truly disturbing. I'm not sure how reliable this source is, but it makes me nervous. Many people suggest "Just don't install LiveWare," unfortunately I had to to get all four of my speakers to function. I don't have a copy of this NewsUpd.exe on my hard drive, thankfully.

I use nothing but Creative. They just build good hardware. Im currently using their DVD, CDRW and soundcard. HOWEVER, I use just the drivers. Starting with WIN95 they started going crazy with the bells and whistles. Besides being resource hogs, they are now apparently spyware?

Thankfully, I haven't had to install the LiveWare crap. But I'm even more thankful that I'll soon be replacing this stupid card with a GTXP :)

Raspewtin, I'm using 98 atm with Creative's drivers. Just installing the drivers alone wouldn't allow me to get sound from all four speakers for some reason, even though I specified a four speaker set up in Windows.

I also needed SB16 emulation, which didn't seem to be happening with the drivers alone. Maybe I'm just inept. ;)

Balt, I had the same experience with WinMe, so it's not b/c you are inept (unless we both are, which is possible ;) )
