I've got a weird problem with my new external CLabs modem. Whenever it dials out W98 reports that the line is engaged, even though it isn't, I can hear the modem dialling out, and when I use another modem it is fine.
Could it be related to the fact that when I plug the phone line into the modem I can hear the sounds from the room my modem is over the dial tone on another phone in the house (specifically my fish tank!)? Incidentally this happen whether the modem is powered up or not.
I have downloaded the latest drivers , but don't hold out much hope that this'll work.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
