Maybe something for those who missed out on the Yamaha CDRW. EDIT: $20/100 code expired yesterday. Drive is still available for $129.88 + shipping

There is two models that creative has: one is made by Samsung (8435) and the other I'm 99% sure is Plex (8432), I got 8432 and it works with Clone CD. Good Luck.

For a repackaged plextor there seem to be some unusually bad reviews on this cdr at amazon. Some people have given it 1 and 2 star reviews (out of 5). Some off the specs are different from the Plextor webpage:

Plextor 8x4x32x
160ms Average Random Access
4 MB Buffer

CL 8x4x32x
170ms Average Random Access
2 MB Buffer

if it's a Plextor it must be some sort of OEM that has different specs than the retail Plextor 8x4x32x drive.

LG Electronics (I think they are related to Goldstar) makes a 32x8x4 drive w/2 meg buffer - model CED8080B. Many place sells these for around $130-$160. I know Creative used to relabel Goldstar CD-ROMs and sell them under their name.

Password,

I used to have this drive, and it worked perfectly. BUT, it is ide....and when it burns you have to let it do it's thing. If you go and open some progs or surf, then it will cause a buffer error. I think that some people make the mistake of trying to do to much while it is burning.
And I was surprised by the low ratings given it. For anothe cuople of first hand experiences, check this out null

I considered it a deal back then, and a great deal now. I bought one for a friend, should be here Wednesday. :)

While I haven't tried it, there is a $15 off $100 in the Amazon Electronics store (look around, it's out there). If you're still inclined in purchasing this drive you'll be able to save another $15. Not quite as good as the $20, but hey, you shouldn't have waited around debating it! ;-)

I just bought a Creative CD-RW Blaster 8432 from buy.com and it turns out to be a RW8435E, which is in fact a Samsung I presume... I haven't try it w/ CloneCD yet, however I am not very hopeful about that...
Check out previous thread about 8432
