Creative Labs' Audigy platinum...

lozina

Lifer
The external component: can I slide this sucker into a 5 1/2" bay in my tower or do i have to lay this thing somewhere on my desk?

thx

Are you talking about the Platinum EX? The external breakout box will not fit in a 5 1/4 bay. If you're talking about the vanilla Platinum then, the additional box is designed to go in the 5 1/4 bay and it would be a bad idea to put it anywhere outside the case as it isn't an enclosed box.

Yeah, the platinum EX. so that breakout box will NOT fit in a regular bay? Even if I remove that housing? I never heard of the vanilla model...

OK i got it now... the creative labs web site has the platinum eX listed under their "sound blaster internal" category so it cofnused the hell out of me. I thought it was just a uber version of platinum instead of the external counterpart.

The platinum EX is the internal Audigy sound card with an external box like the Game Theater XP. The Extigy is actually a fully external 'sound card' that connects through USB. If you just want one that you will put in your 5 1/4 bay, it would be a better idea to get the normal Audigy with an internal connector box.
