Creative Labs 8x4 cd-rw blaster for christmas... how does this drive hold up?

Got a burner from my dad for christmas, C.L. 8x4xsomethin' cd-rw blaster. so far attempted 2 burns, both worked like a champ @ 8x, came with my favorite burning software, Nero (wow, I have a legal copy now :Q)

anyway, seems like a good burner, works great without even blinking in windows 2000, any comments?

what master/slave setting you use? my brand new acer won't burn a complete disc.
