Heya all. Just wondering what you think of the Creative I-Trigue 3300 . I'm looking around for some new speakers, with a budget of about AUD $150 or so. I thought about getting Logitech or Creative 4.1/5.1 speakers, but I won't really have the space for them, and I can live without surround sound. This will basically be for my non-gaming rig, with some minor gaming, but mostly listening to music and watching DVDs. I listen to classical music as well as the current stuff, and I guess I don't need the absolute most powerful base... clarity in the high ranges would be nice.

I did a search in these forums, and seems like the Klipsh is pretty popular, but it's outside my budget. Can't find Planar Media here in Australia either. I've read a few reviews about the I-trigue... nothing extraordinary sound-wise, but I like the aesthetics, and I don't think I know enough about speakers to really hear the short-comings of the I-trigue. I may be able to afford the Altec Lansing 2100, shame it doesn't have an audio jack on its remote, but that isn't the end of the world.

What do you guys reckon I should get?

Edit: Actually, in all honesty, I think I'm really like how well the I-trigue matches my non-gaming rig setup, with an LCD and the Logitech Elite keyboard and MX700, and will likely get it if the sound isn't too bad. Just waiting to see if anyone's going to say that it's a complete mistake to get it. :p

I like the I-Trigue. I had the opportunity to listen to one in an enclosed room and it sounded very nice considering that it's a medium cost 2.1 system. It won't bring the house down, but then again it's not suppose to. For gaming, I'd prefer at least a 4.1 setup, but since music and DVD playback is going to be your primary use, these speakers should serve you very nicely.

I have these speakers; they're good, very loud, and with a very clean sound. The only thing I would say is that because of the size of the speakers in the individual stands, they're not great at reproducing midtones. High frequencies and bass notes are excellent and very sharp though.

Oh and the remote control bit is great for plugging in headphones for gaming or something, you also get a Bass control on it. :)

Just want to drop by and say thanks for the advice. Just got the I-Trigue 3300 today, and yeah, it isn't absolutely remarkable, but still fairly good, and is more than good enough for my needs. Looks quite nice too, having those grills on look better than I thought they would. The only odd thing out on my room's desk now is the Hitachi CML175 (biege), but that'll eventually make its way to my gaming rig, and I'll get whatever LCD tickles my fancy then.

Cheers.
