Creative GeForce fan making weird noises

I brought my machine home for spring break. I turn it on, and low and behold i hear a strange noise. To confirm it was the video card, i stopped the fan with a pen and the noise stopped.

The noise is like a clicking sound (albeit very rapid clicking sound) and I have no clue as to where it came from. I disassembled the fan and reassembled it, making sure the power cable was not in the way, but it still made that sound.

My question is, can a Creative GeForce DDR run without the fan or is there anyway to lower the rpm of the fan or is there anyway to get rid of that annoying clicking sound.

hmmmm it MAY be able to run without the fan, but that would be running it outside the manufacturers specs, and could void your warranty, I would either 1. rma it or 2. buy a blorb and some ASII and put that on there.

yeah same thing happened to my gf2mx. What I did to fix it was get a new fan, and re-sodder on the cable. What was happening is the fan was hitting the heat sink. No real problem, except the noise and it slowed the fan down some. But didnt really affect it. I would hop on down to HSC and pick up a new fan.

Wow..

how nice of creative labs to send me a new fan which i can happily glue it on myself.

I should've asked for a new GeForce DDR :D They probably dont have any and would send me a GeForce 2 or something :p
