I have a Creative Titanium Fatal1ty Champion and when I hook up my mic I can hear my voice and other sounds around the room through my headphones. How do I disable that? I dont want to hear my voice through my headphones.

Look in the creative audio control panel for "Monitor" and disable it (usually a toggle like a radio button).

well, plugged into the sound card it does work but not the mobo, plus its wierd on the sound card i can hear myself which is very annoying.

Yeah, the X-Fis default to that. No idea why. It's easy to turn off, though. IIRC, you have to mute the mic playback within Windows.
I've attached a couple screenshots showing how it looks on my system (note which items are muted, and which aren't)...
Playback device properties
Recording device properties:
(Effectively: 'mute' the mic in 'playback devices', but leave it enabled for 'recording devices')

Now go to start menu and creative software and then creative console launcher.. Adjust Mic there .. Again watching for the stupid FP VS RP mic connection mode .. Also here u can adjust main sound EQ... Its factory set to flat .. I always change it to POP.. So .. I get a good mix of bass and treble for gaming and music. Also while u are in this console. Mute line in because if you dont you will constantly hear ur voice when u use Mic . Also .. Windows 7 likes to screw around with Front panel or FP Mic VS Rear panel or RP Mic and of course if you have mic connected at sound card then its should be rear panel or Rp ..or just plain old . Creative Mic ..

Problem solved. Thanks C1 for the links and highlighting the part I needed. It was a big help :)

Had to go into the speaker setting and set microphone fp to mute. Never thought that setting would be there. I figured it would be in the record/input options.
