Creative DVD drive acting wierd!!

Recently my DVD drive (which is my primary cd drive), has started to eject the tray at random times (always when there is a CD in it). The first time it happened, I had left the tray open and rebooted, when it hit the BIOS screen at startup, it closed, naturally, only for it open again a few minutes later.

Over the weekend, I thought i'd play C&C Tiberian Sun, the first time I'd played it since I built my machine and added the dvd drive. Anyway, when I put in the cd and close the tray, it would read the cd but eject a few seconds later. Always does it with Tiberian Sun, but accepts other games/cover cds/audio cds etc., however, like I said before, it has spat out other cds. The only way to play TS is to put the cd in my cd-rw.

Any ideas?

I'm going to scan for viruses when I get home, but I always keep my dat files up to date, and run ZoneAlarm when online.

from a software point, you could try updating the drivers & see if that helps. hardware-wise, do you have a 2nd box you can check the thing in? will it read a cd ok? might try a different IDE cable.

Does it do it with DVDs? Have you cleaned it recently (or ever)? Have you dropped it or kicked your case or anything like that recently?
