I know this is the classic issue but I was hoping someone had a fix for it.

I just got an Asus A7V333 Via chipset mobo and a Creative Labs Audigy Gamer sound card. Whenever Win98se is loads/detects the Audigy Audio Processor, it locks up. If I remove the card, the system runs fine.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, updated drivers for both the soundcard and Via 4-in-1 drivers.

Thank you in advance!

I`m using Epox 8KHA+ (VIA kt266a) with a SB Audigy with no problems, did you disable onboard sound in bios? You could try moving the Audigy to a different PCI slot since it could be a IRQ conflict.

I would also try the Audigy card in another PC to make sure it`s not faulty as well.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, there is a jumper that is set so the onboard sound is disabled.

My next step is to pull out all the PCI cards and try the sound card in each one.

What version of Via drivers are you running?

Thanks,

I`m running the latest version 4.38,however mine is on WinXP Pro which handles IRQs 100 times better then Win98 :).

Oh ya, I had this card in my old Asus CUSL2 Intel motherboard and it worked great. So at least I know the card is good.
