To those of you that have Creative cards, you know that there are 30+ apps that come along with the card that is completely unnecessary to install. However, I want to make sure that I have this set up the right way (for Doom 3, what else?) Can you help me with this? The Creative web page is not a help at all, the driver disk included has way too much crap it wants to install - damn. I just want this to work right. I know its a great card - please help.

Just install the driver. Also make sure you have the control panel thing, because then you can adjust audio properties like EAX and whatnot. I don't know why they make it so confusing, it's a pain in the neck. I like to install the driver, control panel, and DVD-audio player.

The Creative support site has a page for it and organizes it under Applications, Drivers, and Manuals. I think you need to have the original driver CD to begin with, but I'm not 100% sure.

See, the confusing part is I can't get a strait answer from anyone about this. I do appreciate your help, but I was hoping for a more detailed description of how to do this ~ I'm a helpless n00b.

uninstall your old soundcard via add/remove programs, disable it in system properties, disable it in bios (if its integrated), install audigy 2zs, place driver cd in, install only the driver, audioHQ, EAX control panel, and one of the other ones (has to do with volume control), you need the EAX console to disable CMSS. now, it will tell you to reboot, afterwords, go to creatives support website and use their automated driver updated tool located here
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/su.asp

use it and reboot then check back till you have all the updates
