My sound card crapped out on me, so I am looking at a new sound card (one that goes well with my Klipsch). I've been looking at Creative Audigy 2s and I see the Platinum and the Platinum Pros.

So far the only difference I see is that the break out box for Platinum is Internal and the Platinum Pro is External (And has a Remote). Is there any other difference beyond that point?

No the card is identical. Even the basic OEM audigy 2 zs card will be identical. Don't waste your money unless you really have a need for the extra features/games/software bundle.

In the past OEM Audigy 2s have been known to have worse sound quality than Retail Audigy 2s. I don't know if that's still the case with the ZS though. Just saying.

The Platinum Pro is targetted more towards musicians than gamers like the rest of the line, and is slightly better than the other cards in the line. The cards are not identical. It will definitely test better with a cleaner signal, and so forth, but it is unlikely you will hear a difference. If you don't need the external box, save some money and stick with the regular platinum.

I have the non Pro and LOVVVEEEE the breakout box, the ability to plug in mic and headphones right in front is great, plus it has the ability to kill the speakers when you do so, I love it. However my breakout box did die within a month on my first card, but it got replaced. I dont see much of a reason to go pro, Ive found nothing the Plat doesn't do that I want it to.
