Creative and lack of SB cables

I bought a box of sound blasters this week, and cards look great, but seems like none of the proprietary Creative cables are available from Creative or anybody else at reasonable prices. Ebay has a simple ribbon cable, the AD Ext that goes from card to PC front panel for $20, and almost that for the mini Midi to standard midi adapters.

Makes me never want to buy anything without a known standard cable type.

I may bite the bullet and buy one, or may be stubborn and try making my own.

Which models did you buy? If you brought discontinued models you will have a have a hard time finding cables at reasonable prices.
