creating OS installers

hi, i got a thumb drive and used it as a installer for windows xp and 7 but just got unreadable.. I'm planning to create another installer in my external drive(wd passport). is it safe to use my passport? and one thing more, I want to create xp,7,8, and other iso's on my drive to use it repairing computers. what software can you recommend for creating those. thx

Yumi will work and if you get the Windows AIK in x86 and x64 you can install anything from xp to 8 and in any variation.
