Creating custom screen resolutions (manually, no PS)...

I've seen people talk about creating custom screen resolutions, such as 1400x1050 (which is what I'd like to try). How exactly is this done?

I'm running Windows Xp with a Matrox G450 dualhead & an NEC FE950+.

At least a pointer in the right direction would be helpful...

I think you have to edit a DLL or INF file that's part of the drivers... At least, that's for Dets.

i would say look in the inf files that come with your drivers, try opening them up in a hex editor and see if you can find a list of resolutions.

1) you could try this Matrox technical support tweak utility which is supposed to allow you to add custom resolutions

2) i *thought* powerstrip might allow this capability?

This old thread here has a discussion of how to do it by editing the registry. I know it works fine for the GF2 GTS.
