I am looking to create a CD menu that will autoload when you insert the disc into the PC. I've seen Flash files exported as .exe, so this is what I would like to do. I would like to link to other files contained on the CD (probably PowerPoint), and open them as slide shows. I'm not really familiar with Flash or PowerPoint, so I was wondering how to create the .exe from Flash first and then if it is possible to link to files so they don't open up in a browser, because I'm sure .ppt files will open in IE sometimes. Also, I wanted to know if PowerPoint is able to be saved in a format that autoplays, rather than opening up the PowerPoint program.

In Flash, you can export the movie to an .exe. I really don't remember how at the moment. And yes, PowerPoint can also be saved as a self-playing .exe for viewing on any PC without PowerPoint. You should be able to make the Flash movie point to files on the CD without a problem. Remember to use relative pointers, and not absoluts as not everyone will have their CD drive as the same letter. As for opening files, an .exe should just open, but it might give you a "Save As" dialogue, it's been a while so I don't really remember...

doing it in Flash is SIMPLE. Go to "Publish Settings" and there is check box for it.

It will be easier to actually build the menu in PP, but Flash is a million times more powerful. Depends on what you need, and Flash is easy to learn. It might seem perplexing at first, but it's really a nice program once you get the hang of it.

I haven't messed with Flash in having it open other exe's from inside a SWF, but I'm sure it can be done without too much effort

www.flashplanet.com for all your Flash needs, the message boards there are GOOD!
