Creating a Windows 98SE boot disk, how do I do it?

If you have Win98SE already up and running, you can make a bootable floppy via Explorer. Format the floppy, and make sure that you have "Copy system files" checked. Depending on your case, you may be able to just copy the system files without actually formatting.

If you want something a little more elaborate, I beleive there is a 'makeboot' script in your \Windows\Command folder.

If all else fails, Add\Remove in the Control Panel and click on the Startup Disk tab.

Have an empty floppy ready, then go into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and choose startup disk tab. Just click the button and Windows will create the bootdisk for you.
 
Every time I click on create disk it says to put in 98SE disk and II do. Then it tells me it can't find any of the files I need, I've even tried changing drives and stuff. I can explore the cd just fine but it won't let me extract the files. WTF?!?!?!?!?!?! Is there another way or can I have someone else make me one?
 
get into dos be it dos mode or within windows. go to the dir c:\windows\command. then type bootdisk. follow the directions on the screen and you're set.
 
Or, even easier - there is a script in the Windows, command directory. Just type in "bootdisk" and it will make the bootdisk without the need for a cd.
 
Ya know...there's this nifty little *search* button in the upper right of the forums.... 😉
