Creating a website: For Free. Need help

I want to make a website. I only have .001% html experience, I still have to look everything up online for a 'example' on how to do pretty much everything. I am looking into making a nice website, but I am only 17 and do not have a job to pay monthly.

My father owns 'Dreamweaver' and brought it home from work for me. I have that program, but I have no idea where to go from here. Is there any 'host' that allows people to upload these 'templates' ive been hearing so much about? How would I go about getting started on a website without using the basic tripod/yahoo/geocities pagebuilders? Thanks

Dreamweaver has a code/design/split view you can choose between. Create a page using the various wizards in the design view and switch to the split view to see how the code adjusted. Change things around and check the code again. Learn by example is the most practical way if you ask me.

I've tried and got a bunch like Angelfire etc.. but im talking about mixing dreamweaver and host provider. I havnt come across anything. Plus I dont even know what Im looking for. So help from yall is much better than spending hours trying to find out what I need to be searching for.

you don't need a host if you're just learning. Basic HTML will run locally on your machine since it's just rendered by the web browser. Save it to the desktop and double-click the html file and you'll see.

dreamweaver is a program to build websites.

knowing "0.001%" HTML and asking to build a website with Dreamweaver is like, asking how to write a novel since you own Microsoft Word 🙂

Search for free hosting here on ATOT. I can think of two people off the top of my head that are providing free hosting accounts for members. Should be more than enough to get you up and going so you can tinker with stuff.

Hey rh71 I'll take you up on that. I just need to find a Dreamweaver free compatible website that allows me to upload everything to it. However I dont know the first thing about "uploading" Dreamweaver files to a host.

I don't have an FTP. I dont have any free webspace. I dont know where to get it. If I had the tools I will spend the time to learn then. I wont have to ask how all that works too lol.

I'll try to make a website via dreamweaver then. I'll come back online here once I figure out how to do that. Is there any reccommended dreamweaver tutorial websites out there?

sign up for a netfirms account. they will install wordpress for you and that would be great for a beginner. $130 per year, but use discount code *max* and you get a whole year for $10.

40gb storage // 780gb transfer!!!!!

while i'm sure that's a great deal, as stated above, there are a couple people here offering web hosting for free. they include Fantastico which will let him install stuff like that with a few clicks.
