I remember there was a way in Win98 to create a text file of all the files in a certain folder, etc. I have been given the task of basically pulling information from 3 harddrives (from 3 computers in our department), and combining everything so that everything is categorized.
The issue is that the 3 computers were from 3 different users. I will be going through and combining everything, but will also leave their files intact and in the same place they currently are. We are just doing a lot of archiving. What I need to do is find a way to create a text file listing all the file names that are located in a certain folder, and the names of the files that are in the subfolders.
If you have no idea what I am saying, my roommate thought of a good example. Lets say you have a number of music albums on your PC, and each artist has its own folder, and then if there are multiple albums by that particular artist, then the album would be its own folder, located in the artists' folder. I would need to create a text file that shows the original folder and the folders within the folders, and the files within each of those folders.
Anyone know how to do this? Systems are running Windows2k, and one is running XP.
