Hi all, I'm having an issue with older system. It's a CHVF-E motherboard.
I got windows 11 installed on it the main SSD is 64GB ss 830 I have 4 128GB ss 830s that I would like to raid0 for capacity.
Using diskpart I am able to manipulate them but I think Ive got the process wrong and my Google fu is burnt out from trying to use the onboard controller.

Not able to install w11 on a raid array simply put.

Any advice would be appreciated. Not worried about long term endurance sin e I will be upgrading over time.

As a side not since this is the memory and storage forum.
What is the sweet spot for ddr5 for Ryzen 4. I know they recently increased the speed ability on it.

Thanks again.

Need some more specific info here. All google spits back is you're using an Asus likely for a mobo.

Not sure how windows does raid but, Linux is pretty simple once you boot and open a terminal you can run a couple of commands and it's online and readable. https://www.stellarinfo.com/article/set-up-RAID-in-windows.php

Using the OS is usually easier than the onboard option. The only benefit of the onboard is it's independent of the OS.

Yes it's an Asus cross hair v formula e 990fx chipset.
Seems to be able to be done in win11 through storage settings. But I keep getting an error that there isn't enough space to complete to function. So I think I need to make the volume smaller than the full capacity of the drives but not sure if that's for all 4 or just the first one.

Out on an outage call ATM for work so thought I'd get some more brain power onto it.

This is a 10yr old or more. Fx8320 vishera chip with a GTX 780. Had never built it back in the day and life issues got in the way.
Now I just want to play D4. Will upgrade as funds allow

Probably sees the prior array as used space and won't keep it intact and mount it. If you have a back up then delete the partitions and try again.

3 of the 4 were never powered up, I think I am having issues with creating the volumes and or partitions. I did do a clean all on them, I do not want to use the onboard raid since it only initialized once.

I am home now and going to read your link and see if I get a lightbulb lit from that.

Thank you.
Edit:
I had followed that guide earlier, I get the command you selected is not compatible with this version of windows (11)

Wonder if I try the media install tool from windows 10?? I used RUFUS to get 11 to install on this system.

Well I'll be bamboozled, now disk management is listing the drives to add to the striped volume 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤞👍

Shook something loose with a reboot or two I'm guessing. W11 is funky with some tasks. I can do a shutdown on my laptop and the uptime clock won't reset is one thing I've noticed. I use a program for the taskbar to do w10 style functions as well and it works except for using the start button. I keep most things saved on different partitions and on my server instead of local because I don't trust Windows and haven't for years.
