Creating a local area network - without a floppy?

I'm trying to create a network that runs through our linksys router, I ran the network setup wizard in windows and at the end it told me to create a network setup disk. However none of our computers have Floppy drives, is tehre a way to set this up without a floopy disk?

It is not a boot disk it wants to create anyway. You can manually configure each computer to make a home network.

I have a linksys router and 2 computers. Once pc is directly plugged to the router, so that was easy to configure (like yours). Then on the laptop when you set up the wireless card, enter the same workgroup as the desktop. Depending on the settings in the router, you may need to enter a WEP code/pass-phrase or the MAC address of the wireless card. Be careful, if you have firewalls running (Norton, Zone Alarm,...) you will have to set up "Trusted Zones" for the other pcs on the network to see and talk to each other.

Forget the network setup wizard.

You can just do it manually. After each computer is hooked up to the router, go to your system properties, computer name and make sure each computer is on the same Workgroup. It will most likely read MSHOME or WORKGROUP.

Choose one of them and apply it to each computer.
