Creating a Domain in a Win 2000 Server

Hi all,
I have an office network with 7 PCs connected to a SERVER running on WIN 2000.
I want to cut privilages from 2 PCs and let them just read and write in a certain domain in the Server and not be able to install any program in their HDD. I tried to make Guest accounts in their OS but only one could see the network, the other was not permited.
I even changed the Geust account name and declare it as a user in the server but didn't work. Any suggestions?

Do you own Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows 2000 Advanced Server, or ????
Unless you have the Server version, you won't be creating a Domain.

If you do have Server, you'll need your client computers to have Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional installed in order to join the Domain and receive Group Policies from the Server.

If you can't/won't create a domain, you can still restrict users from installing most programs by making them "Restricted Users" on their own PCs. By default, most PC users are "Administrators" on their PCs, and can install software at will.

You can also set Software Restriction Policies to control what programs can be run on each computer, using the "Local Security Settings" of the computer.

Finally, on Windows 2000, you can set access rights to files and folders using NTFS Sharing and Security Permissions. You'll need to create accounts for each user on your "Server". When they try to access shared folders, they will be required to identify themselves with their Username/Password, and their access rights will be determined from that.
