Create overlay failed? DVD won't play,help!

Hi all,

Trying to play "3000 miles to graceland" with windvd.

I insert DVD in the DVD rom it starts to blink then a message comes up" create overlay failed.Please lower your
screen resolution or color depth and try again"

What is "overlay"?

Any suggestions, what settings should i set my monitor?
