My parents computer is going extremely slow recently. I told them to reformat, but they have EVERYTHING in 1 partition. Is there a free program I can use to create another partition, put all their personal stuff in it, then reformat?
 
Ah, someone suggested transferring it to my PC over the network, refomatting, making 2 partitions, then transferring it back.
 
Either option would work.
Relatively simple - the network idea is potentially less labour intensive.

Whichever option you choose, just get updated drivers for the hw off the internet before you decide to trash the OS [just in case you find you need more details about the hw installed].
Ensure you backup emails/dial-up/network/desktop[xp] settings independently
