Create food intake database?

I'm keeping track of all the food that I eat on a daily basis and what time I eat the particular food.

I'm wondering what the best way to go about entering this information into my computer to get things like a breakdown of when I eat the most food, how much of each food I'm eating, etc...

Should I try to come up with something in MS Access? Excel? Write my own program? Is there software available to do this?

I'm not sure if I should just list particular food items in the food category they fall under. Should I make separate entries for something like Grapefruits, or should I just stick it under "Fruits and Veggies"?
 
ahm... not to be rude but.... for what do you want to do that?

I dunno, I just figured if I could keep track of my eating habits and see something on paper, I could better help myself cut down on the things I'm getting too much of.

Besides, it keeps me occupied for a few minutes each day 🙂
