Obama has turned out worse than I could ever have dreamed of. He's a terrible president. Even the far left liberals are beginning to realize this. By the end of his term, there won't be any person left in America that likes him besides members of his cabinet.

Far left liberals don't like Obama because Obama is nothing remotely close to a far left liberal.

Sorry that I might be digressing even further, but now that you mentioned it: EVERYONE, i mean EVERYONE including you, me and everyone here would agree NOW that he did more than enough just by not letting a total lunatic like FAILin become a vice president. That's something I wager no one could argue against lol

What are you talking about? Nobody posted anything new about this topic. I was just responding hawtdawg.

Take a chill pill... lol

I just meant the SLI/CFX points you've been fighting from Lonyo's thread and the other thread before that.

The fact you think Obama is far left just shows you don't have a realistic view of his policies and actions. He's very much a pro-business centrist just like Clinton was. The health care policies he barely advocated were less socialized than the already relatively centrist health care plan that was going through congress.

I do get your point though, 5870 doesn't seem worth much to a value-minded person as most 5850s catch up to it with OC'ing with ease. 480 would simply not make any sense to anyone in the market for a card with some bang-for-buck factor. If you got money to burn, might as well go all out... Apparently not everyone thinks alike, but I would have personally.

:thumbsdown:

I think someone needs a little more reading to do.

There are two ways to understand "liberal" or "leftist" in a political context.

The way it is understood by some people in the US and the way it is understood by pretty much everyone else (well, I'll limit that to Western democracies since I know little about the political climate in Africa and parts of Asia). I am Canadian. By our standards, Obama is a centrist politician.

If you were to take a centrist European leader like Angela Merkel and present her policies in the US, she would be considered far far far left. The same would be true of a centrist Canadian leader.

When someone tells me an American president is a liberal, I chuckle.

Mandated private healthcare is far left eh? seems like more of the same corporate entitlements than the Republicans love so much.

us "far" lefties wanted a public option or even single payer. Instead we got Romneycare.

I never ever stated you had to buy a top-end GPU to be considered an enthusiast, period.

But, why would we do this when more likely than not, those who buy the 480 and 5870 are probably going to opt for 2 of them and possibly even 3 or 4!

The bottom line is that we are talking about the best single-GPU cards in the world. Many people who want that kind of performance won't just be happy with one. Notice I said "MANY". I didn't say "ALL".
And the rest of http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2080128 thread.

You may have not said it flat out, but it is implied. I don't know why these kinds of threads stay open. How isn't rampart fanboyism not worthy of an infraction - then multiple infractions can add up to a vacation.

Quit trying to "attempt" a personal attack. The quotes you quoted of mine don't imply anything about a fanboy. I did not talk down one company, and I did not talk up any company in any of the quotes. That was a lame attempt. lol

You are breaking the TOS. And hawkdawg, I'd listen to the moderator and save the political discussions for P&N...

Voted #3:

I did not have SLI/CF with that card. (Neither HD4870x2 or HD5870)

BTW: Seems like you Americans must have retracted to a political point scale from the traditional linear one when opposites as liberals and socialists are bunched together.
Very radical thinking. Like it:)

Another one of your 'scientific' observations based on no evidence whatsoever or just another banal statement that you choose to believe?

I have an HD 5870.
Before that, i had an HD 4890
Prior to that, i had a GTX 280

I do not like SLI/CF & the issues that come along with such configs.

What makes you exclude the 5850 and put the 280?Care to explain??

Actually, this is easy - the GTX280 was the fastest single GPU of its time from nVidia. It's the same for all the other cards (fastest single-GPU cards of their time). It's not about current performance, but their original segment position.

GTX280 -> GTX285 (refresh) -> GTX480
HD4870 -> HD4890 (refresh) -> HD5870

EDIT: It's not painting a true picture of the market though, as the HD4870 was competing against a GTX260 and not the GTX280. However it was the fastest single-GPU from ATi back then that could be used for CrossFire (not counting QuadFire setups). And this is what the OP was interested in.
