CRC error when installing ANY programs?

Today i all of a sudden cannot run .exe installations. I am getting the contuined CRC error message. This is only with certain downloaded programs, not ones i have on physical discs. The different programs have given me different error messages, but all with the CRC being their main problem.

I think this is because i uninstalled the newest version of AIM to resort to an older one with less useless crap, and now nothing will install. I re-downloaded Windows Installer 3.1 in hopes of that working, but it did nothing.

Ive searched and found nothing of what exactly to do for this? Can anyone help?

If you're overclocking, stop. Try downloading something that has an md5 or similar has signature available. Then get the md5 and compare it to what the source says.

md5 is a hashing algorithm. It's commonly used for passwords and verifying that a file has not been changed. If you're getting bad downloads, the md5 should be wrong. I'm not sure of any Windows files that utilize it though.

ALright, so i should download an md5 file to see if its wrong? Then what?

Apache has MD5 for Windows.. (PGP too). Not sure how to use it myself though.

If anyone runs into this problem in the future. It was my Nvidia Nforce Forceware "ActiveArmor" firewall doing the problem. To fix this, i disabled it.
