Guys, I need help. I've been asking this question for weeks now and no one has bothered to answer the question. The frustration mounts. :) Here goes again:

To anyone with a non VIVO X800 Pro, does your card want you to install WDM drivers for the Rage Theater chip that is not present? My Gigabyte X800 Pro does and it is annoying me. If your card does not, would anyone care to use ATI Tool and do a BIOS dump for me so I can use your BIOS? I have been looking for a Gigabyte BIOS update but none can be found. And I believe that this card is physically just like the BBA so I should be ok to use a BBA BIOS.

Thanks for helping me out.

Y'know what, you might be lucky. You absolutely sure you don't have VIVO? Or are you just going by the packaging? Check your card physically, and mod that if possible. :D

EDIT: Oh my bad, seems like you did already check. Hmm, not sure then, sorry. :(

I know it's not. It has no Rage Theater chip on it, it has no VIVO connector on it, and the RAM is Samsung 2.0 not the 1.6nsec stuff. :( This card shouldn't be trying to install Rage Theater drivers.

if you have the Gigabyte GV-R80P256V, then u have the card with VIVO. if not, just install the drivers anyways. =)

I have the Gigabyte GV-R80P256D. And when I install the drivers I get an error on the Rage Theater chip device in the device manager. See here:

Sigh....

LoL, I do that but that's not really a fix, it's a workaround. I'm thinking more along the lines of a BIOS flash to remove the problem.

Well, I took a giant leap of faith (in my own estimation of my ability to diagnose the problem) and I flashed my card to the latest ATI X800 Pro BIOS, and those pesky Rage Theater devices no longer try to load! It was a faulty Gigabyte BIOS at the root of the problem.

So let that be a lesson to you all. :p

Glad you got it fixed. :p If only I could get an X800 Pro... ;_; It's NOWHERE to be found in the Netherlands. Argh, it's like it doesn't exist anymore. ;\
