I guess he has money to waste.

Waste? he could resell 95% of the shoes in his collection for more than he paid for them. Depending on how long he's had them, a lot more. Classic cars and classic shoes are 2 things that are super smart investments. I doubt he'll ever sell a single pair. But if he fell on hard times and had to, he could make $1,000,000, probably a lot more from selling his collection.

I guess I should have collected the really old sneakers: Chuck Taylor, Puma, Adidas. I might be a millionaire now.

Like cars, you got to know what to look for. A '72 Mustang in mint condition will be worth a lot of money, a '72 Pinto in mint condition? Eh. not so much. I was bidding on a shoe auction a few months ago for some rare Air Mix 95's, my max bid was $400. I jumped out when it got higher than that. They ended up going just over for $2k.

Regarding cars, a 1967 Ferrari just sold for $27.5 million.

I'm a huge sneaker head, videos like this make me both happy and sad at the same time. His shit makes my 100 pair collection look like nothing :(

Wow! I've slowed down alot since going over 25 pairs. Someday I might pick up again but I have diverted those funds to traveling more.

What are your favorites? I keep waiting for Nike to retro the Nike Vick II OTs, as I am having to use my last good pair sparingly and can't find any originals around. The stupid dog fighting thing will probably ensure that won't ever happen.

Wow...I'm sure there are collections out there more complete or extensive, but that's the only video I've seen thus far. I'm not a huge Nike fan like some people I know, but that was still really impressive.

He said ShoeZeum -

This was an actual museum of shoes in Las Vegas but I thought it closed and he sold off the collection?

I'm about 240 pairs of shoes deep in my collection. It's a daily fight to not go into my extra closet and bust out a fresh pair to break necks.

I then pop on ebay and look at the value, and say nope.

Quality of Nike & J's especially has gone way down hill the past 3yrs. Utter garbage now for what they charge.

these are out on Ebay and officially drop in a few weeks, super sick colors and stitching imho. I'll probably get 3 pairs, 1 to wear, 1 to wear when the 1st start to get old and 1 to keep in a box and never touch. In 20 years they'll be worth money. I haven't seen many new kicks in a good while that really caught my eye except these. The new Durants look pretty damn sick too, at least the few pics I saw, I'll probably pick up a few pairs if they hold up in person.

All time favorite? Maybe the Jordan IV's, came out when I was in 9th grade, pops wasn't close to willing to buy them for me so I busted my ass working any small jobs I could find to make a buck. I had the white + gray + blue ones. I'm also a long time fan of the leather white with black Swoosh Cortez, I know a boring basic shoe but still looks good imho. I don't own a single pair of high tops, but I'm going to get some Vick's and Jordan IV's if I can find the right pair. I also loved my Air Max 87's, they're the 1st Nike I remember seeing with the air bubble pocket. I had them in 7th grade. I have some Adidas, Reebok and Puma too, but I'm mostly a Nike head.

Do these collectors buy their size only or do they buy any size they can get? Seems kind of pointless if you can't wear them.

A lot of the shoes in this video aren't meant to be worn, you'd have to be Bill Gates rich to wear a pair of kicks you paid 5k for. Especially one where you probably couldn't get other pair regardless how much you were willing to spend. A seriously collector will take any size they can get. When there's a limited edition Nike that they only made 500 pairs of, you probably won't find it in your size unless you got stupid lucky.

Lemme ask you this, in the part of the video where he shows the SB Dunk rack with about 50 pairs on it and says "it's worth about $50,000" would you wear any of those shoes?

Haven't looked at this video yet, but I know there are several nb huys with extensive collections, and some keep them in walk in closets under biometric security.
