Crazy screen of death

So since building my computer, I have encountered different types of screens of death, and was wondering what the possible causes of the different ones are. Firstly, the bsod, I have gotten, I think because of too high overclocks for the amount of power getting to my ram. Second kind, the thing just shuts off black screen, and has to be restarted. The third kind worries me a bit more, it is varying colored lines across the screen, I think usually vertically. I have only gotten it once or twice, and just now it happened, and I think may have been cause by high temps, but would like to know if anyone knows a specific part that is causing the different shutdowns.

Thanks
