ETLA.
Why the need to post a bigbigsavings link? You say the you just cut and paste, and I can appreciate that, but you obviously when through the trouble of using the linking features of this software, so you made a CHOICE to use the bigbigsavings link, which would not have come through in a cut and paste, rather than the direct link to the deal at Amazon.
Do you get paid for referrals?

If that was the case then why wouldn't ETLA use a referral link? Heck, if they pay ETLA just because he said he sent people to the site, where do I sign up? These are straight links without no referral stuff. You checked that out before you posted that, right? Dang ETLA, do you have a target on your back tonight, or what? Geesh.

I wouldn't doubt if the attacks above are somehow linked. This is wierd I have never seen so many negative comments in a thread here.

For all you bible thumping members ou there make sure you pick up the Dr. Laura game for the family.

HolyCrap, personally, I appreciate the fact that ETLA is citing where he found the deal rather than claiming it as his own, IMMFO. It didn't look like a referral to me. Then again, I may be wrong.

Sorry folks, I did not see the first attack before the poster deleted it, so I don't know what was said. The link provided by ETLA is to another site which DOES make money from referral links to amazon. I was not suggesting that ETLA was using his own referral link, and my question about whether he got paid for referrals was tongue in cheek, but I remain confused as to why the link went through Bigbig rather than not directly to the movers and shakers page to which bigbig refered.

There is a difference between referencing where a deal was found, which I do and which I have encouraged others to do (even before anand had a hotdeals forum), and linking to that site's referral links rather than linking to the deal itself.

I'm confused, I went back and followed the deal straight from bigbigsavings.com and had ETLA linked to the deal itself you would have gotten the same page that comes up off the link ETLA originally posted. Am I missing something?

The links ETLA posted all link to bigbig. Bigbig's affiliate code with Amazon is apparenlty heavenlyeurodanc. If you watch your browser's address bar when you click on the links at bigbig, you'll see that pop up in the URL. In some cases, such as when you link to a specific product, the referral source stays in the URL, in other cases you are redirected to a new URL w/o the referral staying in the URL name, but the referral is still tracked. This is the case with the first link to movers and shakers.

I'm sorry guys, I feel like I should say something here. The Toy page is a page that we had created this afternoon and linked to it from our home page. That page got picked up by many people and got posted all over, on pretty much every discussion forum. OF COURSE the page on our site is going to have affiliate links, that is how we generate revenue for bigbig, but ETLA simply posted the link to our site, just as other forums did. I don't see how he did anything wrong?

Alex

geez whats the big deal. some of you are too anal, its not like bigbigsavings himself posted the deal, its actually pretty helpful its linked to a site that lists all the toy deals on one page. and if he gets a few pennies for the link for doing so, who really cares? its not money coming out of your pocket to pay for it and the original poster is not even the one to profit from it. its the holidays, lets all loosen up and be merry :)

kudos to you shurato! Frankly, I don't see any problem somebody referring somebody just to make a few pennies. That's his style, he's not forcing anybody, is he? Let him. Damn! everybody's a critic!

once again, all I edited on the 1st original post was changing the 3 "!!!" to +++ since PEEP doesn't like me using it, I simply changed it.

---

Alex (bigbigsavings) is one of our favorites because, as far as we know, he is meticulous about NOT posting referral links on OUR site. The good posts he makes, here, are giveaways. He makes his money when you visit and click from there. Thanks for your clarification, Alex.

ETLA makes a lot of nice posts, as well. So do a lot of you. :)

We DO have rules here about not posting referral links. That doesn't mean that others have to jump all over ETLA for this post. Give him some credit for what he has posted in the past. I am willing to accept his word that he accidentally posted one link because he was in a hurry.

OK, children. Enough of this petty crap! Go play with the toys. :D

P.S. The folks in Off Topic would tell you that the "nice" mod is on duty. Don't believe it. I can be the "mean" mod, too (if I have to). ;)

Yeah, the shipping is kind of a rip. If you look at the shipping policy on toys, its 2.99 base shipping and .99 for each pound! So check out the weight of some of the things. I had $25 shipping for a $32 order. Went through and axed the 9.5 lb sprinkler thing and shipping dropped $9.
