Ok, this is pretty stupid. When my CPU was unlocked, I could crank up my 900 t-bird's FSB up to 112, have the ram still run at HOST_CLK + PCI_CLK and things were smooth as silk. So, I ASSUMED that when I unlocked my chip, I'd be happily on my way to nice speeds.

Well, did I ever think wrong. Ok, for the lazy people who won't click on my rig link.. here's the important stuff.

900 t-bird (week 42)
abit kt7-raid
geforce2 GTS 64mb
256mb PC133 Micron RAM
ata100/7200rpm maxtor HD
Windows 2k pro with SP1 and ata100 hotfix

So, I got a good old conductive pen, and crossed my L1's, and on first boot, I just wanted to see if the multiplier worked. So set FSB to 100, and set multiplier to 10x instead of 9x. Great, boots up at 1ghz. Smooth sailing in windows.. but, I could achieve higher speed when I just O/C my FSB.. so, went back and tried to do a little of both.

First, started slow. 102 FSB and 9.5x multiplier. Booted, went to windows.. just great. Ok, ran 3D mark.. no lock. Went back, and tried 104 FSB and a 10x Multiplier. Booted again.. ran 3D mark, and got a BSOD regarding my nvidia drivers.. bleh!

Then, tried 10x with 105 just for fun.. wouldn't even post. WTF? So, try 102 and 10x.. boots, but I just get random errors in windows.

So.. that's it pretty much, for some reason it won't let me O/C while using both. Temps are even quite low.. 35 degrees after a crash and going to the BIOS. So I don't see temps being a problem. But, WHY can I crank up my FSB and have it work fine, but barely adjust the FSB with a higher multiplier and have it SUCK, while just using the multiplier, it also works. I can't combine the two.

I've changed the voltages.. increased vcore and PCI, decreased vcore.. nothing. I just find this odd, and need answers. I hate only running at like 1ghz when I know I should easily get 1.1 out of this piece of crap.

Well, that kinda defeats my purpose of overclocking. My high clock speeds alone aren't what I'm looking for, I like my ram/video/hd's faster as well.. so that is why I'm trying to use both. I just still can't figure out why you can use one extreme or the other, but not any small adjustments inbetween with both. arggghhh
